If you don’t know already, I’m a stay at home dad and I look after my three-year-old daughter.
It’s been almost two years since I left employment. It seems like only yesterday I was in the corporate world but I don’t miss it.
Now it’s coming to the time that both my son and daughter will be going to school in a couple of weeks time.
It feels like I’m at a transition point and there are lots of possibilities for me to explore.
My Day Job
In a previous existence I was a manager for a pensions administration firm in Edinburgh.
I’d been working in the pensions field for over 15 years when I jumped ship for a better life!
For the past couple of years, I’ve been a stay at home dad and the main focus of my daughter’s attention.
I’ve loved every minute. Now it’s time for her to spread her wings a little and go out into the world.
In just a couple of weeks time, she’ll be heading off to nursery school in the mornings.
I hope I’ve prepared her well for it. She seems so innocent but I also know it’s what she needs to do.
I’m not sure it started out as one of my passions but it’s certainly become one. What am I talking about? Blogging of course.
I spend a huge amount of time reading, researching, writing and networking and it’s become a major part of my life.
I’m passionate about helping others who are also going through their blogging journeys.
I want to share all the things I’m finding out and to create a community of like-minded people.
I love to find alternative things that not many people know about, try them out and then report back if I think they’re any good.
Here are a few of my recent discoveries:

My Day Job Versus My Passion
Now that my kids are stepping out into the world a little more, I’ll have more time to concentrate on blogging.
It’s a testing time because I’ll discover whether I can actually make blogging work for me.
That is, whether I can make a passive income from it, at least enough to make it worthwhile in the long-term.
If I can’t then it will never become my day job but if I can then the possibilities are exciting!
My Niche Site
I started a niche site a few weeks ago – Potty Train Help. Whilst it’s been a few weeks coming, I finally made my first commission last week.
It keeps coming too so I’m feeling very positive about that. In all honesty, I’d left the site to its own devices for a while.
It was a surprise when commission did start to arrive in my account.
There was a significant increase in search engine traffic from last week after the latest Google Panda update.
That was a welcome boost, although the bounce rate is pretty high for the site since then.
Only time will tell if I can make a success of it or if I’ll have to return to employment!
