It’s been a long half term here in Musselburgh and my family and I are all looking forward to having a break for two weeks.
My kids had a huge change this year with my son starting school and my daughter starting mornings at nursery.
They’ve both taken it in their stride but they’re also incredibly tired. I know my wife also needs to recharge her batteries.
Living on the school campus makes life easier for us in many ways but it’s also a full on experience.
So when the school holidays come around we need to take advantage of them as much as we can.
It’s also important to have something to look forward to.
Why Is It Important To Have Something To Look Forward To?
Let’s face it, we all lead busy lives and have barely enough time to wind down at the best of times.
Keeping motivated can be a struggle and here in Scotland, it gets even tougher the closer we get to Winter with the dark mornings and colder weather.
So I find it’s essential to have something to look forward to, not only as a motivator and reward but also to keep my focus on the end goal.
If I don’t have something to look forward to, it usually means I end up finding other things to do and procrastination sets in.
Procrastination is opportunity’s assassin. – Victor Kiam
For me, having something to look forward to usually means spending time with my family, or buying the latest technology!
Here’s What I Have In Store This Half-Term Holiday
This half-term holiday we’re going to Aviemore near the Cairngorm mountains.
It’ll be the first time we’ve been to that part of Scotland, although I’ve climbed a few of the mountains in the Cairngorms when I was a few years younger.
We’ll be staying at one of the resorts where there are lots of things for the kids to do and plenty for Mum and Dad to do as well.
I can’t imagine me getting pampered in the spa but I’m looking forward to messing about in the swimming pool with the kids.
The journey up to Aviemore from Edinburgh is supposed to be particularly scenic. Whether my kids will notice or not is another thing!
“Are we there yet?” has recently entered their vocabulary unfortunately.
You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. – C.S. Lewis
Do You Make Sure You Have Something To Look Forward To?
It doesn’t need to be something big. I think even a small thing to look forward to will help to motivate you.
Please share with me in the comments section below what you’re looking forward to.
